How To Rotate A Video

Did you hold your video camera vertically while recording and have to turn your head sideways to watch the recorded video? If yes, you may want to rotate the captured video from portrait mode to landscape mode.

This can be done easily by rotating the video clip by 90 degree to convert it from portrait to landscape mode.

Method 1: Using Windows Live Movies Maker

You can rotate the video easily with Windows Live Movies Maker. Remember that, Windows Movie maker isn’t included in Windows 7. Before you proceed, download the Windows Live Movie Maker and install it in your computer. Once it is installed, follow the steps below:

1. Open the Windows Live Movie Maker, either by searching from Start -> Search or Start –> All Programs and type Windows Live Movie Maker in the serach box and click on it.

2. Add the video you want to rotate and click on the icon as shown in the image below based on the direction you want the video to rotate. It can be rotated 90 degree left and right with reference to current orientation.

Method 2: Using VirtualDub

Method 1 using Windows Live Movies maker can rotate the video only in terms of 90 degree left or right from the current orientation. If you need to rotate the video by 45 degree or any other custom angle, you may use VirtualDub for the purpose. VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows platforms, and licensed under the GNU General Public License.
